Academic assistant in the area of medicinal chemistry

Job description

  • You contribute to teaching and research in the area in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences.
  • You assist with and you manage practical courses and theoretical exercises for Pharmaceutical Sciences, more specifically in the following courses: Organic Chemistry (Ba1, 30 hours), Pharmaceutical Chemistry (Ba2, 88 hours), Introduction to Medicinal Chemistry and Drug Development (Ba3, 12 hours). In addition, you support the Master course in Medicinal Chemistry, and mentor/follow-up students during internships and master thesis research.
  • You prepare a doctoral thesis in one of the Medicinal Chemistry group’s research topics and you are competing in this connection to obtain externally funded research grants.
  • You are willing to represent the Department at internal and external events and you are willing to further elaborate the activities of the Department in a broad sense.

 Profile and requirements

  • You hold a Master degree in the field of Pharmaceutical Sciences (Master in Drug Development or Master in Pharmaceutical Care), a Master degree in Sciences: Chemistry or a Master degree in Engineering Sciences: Chemistry or equivalent.
  • Master students in their final year may also run as a candidate.
  • The focus in your teaching corresponds to the educational vision of the university.
  • Your academic qualities comply with the requirements stipulated in the university’s policy.
  • You are quality-oriented, conscientious, creative and cooperative.

 We offer

  • an appointment as an academic assistant for a period of two years, with the possibility of renewal twice for a further two-year period after positive evaluation;
  • the date of appointment will be 1 September 2020;
  • a full time gross monthly salary ranging from € 3.404,90 - € 5.762,14;
  • a dynamic and stimulating work environment.
