The Rossier School of Education seeks to hire an instructor for the School Leadership Academy Professional Development Program. As an instructor for EDUC 648x Apprenticeship in School Leadership you will provide direct supervision of the candidates’ apprenticeship at their school settings. You will work collaboratively with the candidate’s site supervisor in the development and implementation of the candidate’s apprenticeship hours. You will report to the Program Administrator and Faculty Director for School Leadership Academy. You will instruct a synchronous, once monthly online session over a 15-week period, 90 minutes per session, using USC Rossier’s Office for Professional Development online ZOOM platform as well as meet with each candidate individually over the phone or online 3 times per semester for approximately 30 minutes each time. These individual meetings can occur during the daytime or evening and can be conducted one on one or 2-3 students per session. Each course is commensurate with a 2-unit/64-hour course. You will also meet synchronously online with the candidates’ site supervisor at the beginning and end of each term for 30 min-one hour providing guidance, support, and coaching for site supervisors. In addition to teaching in the afternoon or evening, your responsibilities include: assigning and assessing course assignments, maintaining regular communication with students, providing timely and constructive feedback on all assignments, completing numerical grade points for each assignment and assigning a final grade for the course. EDUC 648x: Applicants are expected to provide guidance for candidates through CalAPA Leadership Cycle 3 focusing on coaching an individual teacher to strengthen teaching practices and improve student learning and/or well-being. As the fieldwork coordinator for the School Leadership Academy, you will support candidates through Cycle 3 assignments and provide acceptable feedback toward their completion. Faculty must thoroughly familiarize themselves with the CalAPA Leadership Cycles to perform the requirements of this position. Applicants must have a clear administrative credential with significant experience as a school leader. Applicants should be strong in pedagogy, the supervision of instruction, communication, and leadership. Applicants should also be skilled in using a Learning Management System and teaching online. Applicants will need access to their own computer with Internet, microphone, and camera for all online sessions. Live sessions use ZOOM and all content is accessed through the learning management system: Desire2Learn. You will recommend candidates to the Faculty Director based on the candidate’s successful completion of the course, confirming the candidate has met all the qualifications for the preliminary administrative credential. Applicants should be available to follow a cohort through completion of their Fieldwork over the course of two semesters (SPRING 2021, FALL 2021). The option to continue with EDUC 648x 649x during FALL 2021 is available upon successful completion of the first cohort.
