The NYU Steinhardt Department of Music and Performing Arts Professions (MPAP) Music Theory program seeks qualified candidates to teach undergraduate Music Theory 1 and Aural Comprehension 1. Courses meet on campus twice a week, Monday – Thursday, 8:00–9:15am, starting September, 2021. More information about the department can be found at https://steinhardt.nyu.edu/music. Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • ABD or terminal degree in music theory, composition, or another field of music with appropriate specialization and experience.  

  • Experience teaching undergraduate music theory or ear-training courses as the primary instructor. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Experience in the use of digital or online tools

  • Evidence of innovative and inclusive approaches to music theory pedagogy
