Master of Public Administration Online (MPAOL)

The USC Sol Price School of Public Policy invites applicants for an adjunct faculty position in the area of Public Administration. The successful candidate should possess a Ph.D. in Public Administration or a related subject. A Master’s degree may be acceptable with appropriate experience. The candidate will be able to teach graduate-level methods material for the following class: PPD 540-Public Administration and Society. Preference will be given to candidates with prior online (blended, remote and digital) teaching experience and excellent teaching evaluations.

Course Description: PPD 540 provides MPA students with an overview of contemporary public administration. The course reviews important intellectual and constitutional foundations of the administrative state and construct a theoretical approach to the study and practice of public administration. Course objectives include developing skills in critical analysis necessary for practice, developing research and writing proficiencies necessary to address highly rigorous academic analysis, and familiarizing students with online pedagogies and technologies used in the Master of Public Administration online program.

Adjunct instructor responsibilities include delivery of course content, support of the lead instructor including attending all and conducting any live sessions with students as requested, scheduling office hours and being actively accessible to students as appropriate in an engaged, online graduate program, and grading. Each instructor is expected to teach students with a syllabus provided outlining the course goals, schedule and all requirements for the course under the direction of the MPAOL faculty coordinator and Department Chair.
