The USC Sol Price School of Public Policy invites applicants for an adjunct faculty position in the area of Public Administration. The successful candidate should possess a Ph.D. in Public Administration or a related subject. A Master’s degree may be acceptable with appropriate experience. The candidate will be able to teach graduate-level methods material for the following class: PPDE 506 – Professional Residency in Public Administration. Preference will be given to candidates with prior teaching experience and excellent teaching evaluations.

Course Description: Skills in written reporting, professional briefings and social media for public administrators; effective engagement for stakeholders and constituencies; research, analysis and reporting on current policy or management cases.  This course requires acumen in professional public administration involving engagement and communication with diverse constituencies both inside organizations and in the external environment. The course focuses on evidence-based argumentation and communication, and in particular, effective practices for digital literacy, data literacy, research, writing, reviewing, editing, and revising.  Review and workshops will focus on work in progress and use of online tools such as Grammarly, Zotero and Excel will contribute to the skill of producing, critiquing, and revising professional writing. Required proficiency in changing expectations regarding written and visual communication in the digital age should be demonstrated.

Adjunct instructor responsibilities include delivery of course content, scheduling office hours and being accessible to students as appropriate, and grading. Each instructor is expected to provide students with a syllabus outlining the course goals, schedule and all requirements for the course under the direction of the Department Chair.
