Position description

The Department of Biological Chemistry is recruiting adjunct faculty as part of an initiative in Computational Biomedicine.

We are seeking outstanding applicants in the area of bioinformatics to develop an innovative program in analysis of genomic data related to biomedical research including genomics data related to metabolomics, transcriptomics, and heritable genetic features and epigenetic influence. The successful candidate for this position will innovate in approaches to analysis of biomedical research data from across the campus in the areas of precision health, cancer, metabolomics, epigenetics, immunology and neuroscience.

Major leadership roles for successful candidates will include responsibility for a bioinformatics staff dedicated to innovate in bioinformatic tools, and to support campus investigators in bioinformatic and statistical analysis of omics data and to teach bioinformatics to levels ranging from beginners to experienced users by developing and leading workshops. Successful candidates will also help to support development of an online bioinformatics master’s program within a two-year period and teach in some of those classes. Candidates are expected to innovate in approaches and to publish in professional journals to fulfill this faculty position. Location of work may accommodate hybrid format as is appropriate for fulfillment of these responsibilities. Appointments will be in the School of Medicine and candidates are eligible to participate in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan when their appointment is at 51% or greater.
