USC seeks adjunct professors to teach courses in the online Master of Science in Applied Analytics program. Candidates should possess:
Ph.D. or equivalent professional degree with relevant professional experience in analytics and AI, or
Master’s degree with extensive professional experience in the field.
Candidates must be currently employed in a primary position or career in the discipline (or retired from full-time employment). Preference is given to those with significant online teaching experience, strong academic/professional credentials, and excellent teaching evaluations. A commitment to USC’s Unifying Values and collaborative work with students from diverse backgrounds is highly desired.
Candidates may teach any of the following:
AAN 500: Applied Business Analytics and Artificial Intelligence
AAN 505: Statistics for Applied Data Analytics
AAN 510: Visualization and Storytelling With Data
AAN 515: Regression Modeling for Applied Predictive Analytics
AAN 520: Applied Data Management and Database Systems
AAN 525: Applied Machine Learning for Business Applications
AAN 530: Applied Optimization and Simulation
AAN 535: Analytics Business Strategy and Communication
AAN 540: Applications of Deep Learning and AI in Business
AAN 545: Project Management for Analytics Professionals
AAN 550: Applications in Artificial Intelligence
AAN 555: Applied Analytics and Artificial Intelligence Capstone
Successful applicants will have experience with:
Command line applications and prompting
Docker Desktop
Jupyter Notebook
Pre-trained AI models and platforms (e.g., Transformers, HuggingFace)
Python
Machine learning platforms and libraries (H2O Model ML, PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras)
SQL and databases (time series, spatial, relational, graph, vector) such as PostGIS, Timescale, MobilityDB, EdgeQL, Apache AGE
Apply professional experience in teaching, assessment, institutional service, and collaboration with colleagues
Prepare and deliver instructional content aligned with course design and learning objectives
Foster an inclusive and collaborative learning environment
Interact regularly with students through announcements, discussion boards, feedback, and office hours
Provide timely, constructive feedback and grades
Use evaluation data to improve teaching practices
Demonstrate adaptability and a growth mindset to enhance instructional effectiveness
Hourly rates for this open-rank position:
Adjunct Assistant Professor: $49/hour
Adjunct Associate Professor: $54/hour
Adjunct Professor: $59/hour
Compensation considers factors such as scope of responsibilities, work experience, education, key skills, internal peer equity, legal/regulatory requirements, grant funding, and market considerations.
