MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE: 

  1. Bachelor of Pharmacy Degree  
  2. Two years of Pharmacy laboratory experience in an academic institution. 

SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS: 

Teaching & Supervising the students (Practical Part) is an exciting undergraduate, graduate degree program offered through the College of Pharmacy and College of Dentistry. TA’s expected to exhibit high professional standards which promote and demonstrate the University’s core values of Excellence, People Focused, Partnership Working, Fairness and Integrity.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Provide support to the teacher to ensure a safe and stimulating educational environment. 
  • Assist the teacher in planning and preparation for daily activities; aids instructional efforts of the Faculty. 
  • Assist the faculty in preparing lesson outlines, plans, and curricula in assigned areas. 
  • Plan, prepare, and develop various teaching aids for use in the classroom, including activity sheets, drawings, and similar handouts. 
  • Present subject matter to students, under the guidance of Faculty staff, utilizing a variety of methods including discussions and role-playing. 
  • Lead classroom activities. 
  • Ensure that all safety precautions are available and applied in the College laboratories. 
  • Assist students, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments to present or reinforce learning concepts. 
  • May lead, guide, and train staff/student employees, interns, and/or volunteers performing related work; 
  • May participate in the recruitment of volunteers, as appropriate to the area of operation. 
  • Participate in teaching methods including lectures, seminars, tutorials, practical demonstrations, fieldwork and e-learning. Multimedia technologies are encouraged to be used. 
  • Responsible for administrative duties in the college such as timetable preparation. 
  • Attending and participating in meetings, seminars, Webinars, conferences, and other events inside and outside of the college. 
  • Participating in training opportunities and initiatives at the AU. 

ANTICIPATED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS: 

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. 
  • Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures. 
  • Ability to provide activities for students that encourage learning abilities. 
  • Supervisory skills. 
  • Ability to provide a supportive and caring environment for students. 
  • Skill in preparing instructional aids and plans.
