Position Description

The Department of Pediatrics, at the University of Washington School of Medicine and the Center for Integrative Brain Research in the Seattle Children's Research Institute is recruiting a full time Assistant Professor without tenure, commensurate with experience and qualifications.  This is a 12-month service period position with an anticipated start date of Winter 2021.

The candidate will conduct independent research aimed at unraveling network mechanisms underlying respiratory disorders using animal models. The research focus will align with the Division of Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine at Seattle Children’s Hospital, and the candidate will interact with residents and clinician scientists to translate the bench science to the clinic.

University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.

Qualifications

PhD in a relevant field or MD (or foreign equivalent) are required. An MD/PhD (or foreign equivalent) in a relevant field is also acceptable.

The successful candidate should apply modern optogenetic, electrophysiological, immunohistochemical and transgenic approaches to study all levels of integration from the cellular, molecular, network to the systems level.
