The Department of Earth and Space Science and Engineering (ESSE), Lassonde School of Engineering at York University invites highly qualified applicants for a professorial stream tenure-track appointment in Space Engineering (Mechatronics) at the Assistant Professor level, to commence on July 1, 2023.

While we welcome applications from individuals with experience in the traditional and interdisciplinary areas of space engineering, special attention will be given to individuals with experience that complements our current research and teaching activities in the following areas:
spacecraft dynamics and control,
nano-satellite technology,
space instrumentation, and
space mission design.

It will be an advantage if applicants have experience teaching large engineering lecture classes and a demonstrated commitment to participating in alternative course delivery systems.

Candidate Qualifications:
Degree: PhD in Space/Aerospace or related engineering field required by the start date.
Research/Practice Expertise:
o Clearly articulated program of research and specialization in: Space Engineering - Space Mechatronics.
o Engaged in outstanding, innovative, and as appropriate, externally funded research at the highest level.
o Research excellence, or promise of research excellence, of a recognized international calibre, as evident in: the research statement; publications (or forthcoming publications) with significant journals in the field; awards and accolades; and strong recommendations from referees of high standing.
o Excellence, or promise of excellence, in teaching, as evident in: the teaching statement; teaching accomplishments and pedagogical innovations (e.g., high priority areas such as experiential education and technology enhanced learning); teaching evaluations; and strong letters of reference.
o Suitability for prompt appointment to the Faculty of Graduate Studies.
o The successful candidate shall also demonstrate commitment to the engineering profession by being licenced as a Professional Engineer in Canada or by becoming licenced soon after appointment.
