Position Summary

Michigan State University’s Eli Broad College of Business, Department of Supply Chain Management, has an opening for a tenure system assistant professor in purchasing/sourcing to start in the 2022-2023 academic year.  Duties include research, teaching, and service and the teaching responsibility would involve purchasing/sourcing courses in the undergraduate program.  Salary and terms are negotiable depending on experience.

Required Degree

Doctorate -preferred in purchasing/sourcing/SCM

Minimum Requirements

The position requires a Ph.D. or equivalent degree from an accredited university. Candidates must have a demonstrated record of research excellence in purchasing/sourcing and supply chain management. Candidates must have the ability to teach at the undergraduate and MBA levels.

Desired Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have an established (or emerging) research program that demonstrates expertise in conducting theoretically driven empirical research on managerially relevant, contemporary purchasing/sourcing topics that complements and supplements the existing capabilities within the purchasing/sourcing area. Candidates will have the ability to contribute to the SCM Department’s scholarly research record and #1 ranking on the SCM Journal List for empirically focused journals ( as well as other high impact empirical journals for SCM scholars. Candidates with data science and data analytics expertise will be given priority. The ideal candidates will also have a demonstrable history of teaching excellence.
