Assistant Professor of Anthropology

The Department of Anthropology at Özyeğin University, Istanbul, invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor position in Social/Cultural Anthropology, starting in September 2025.

Qualifications:

  • Candidates must hold a PhD in Anthropology or a related discipline (e.g., Sociology, Cultural Studies, STS) by the time of appointment.
  • The ideal candidate will have an active research agenda, a strong record of international peer-reviewed publications and demonstrated excellence in teaching. While areas of specialization are flexible, a research focus in environmental studies, digital anthropology or market ethnography is an advantage.

OzU Anthropology, founded in 2024, offers Turkey's first applied socio-cultural anthropology undergraduate program, with a unique interdisciplinary cirriculum. We seek candidates who will enrich and expand our interdisiplinary research and teaching environment. The successful candidate will teach introductory courses in anthropology & sociology and various electives. The standard teaching load is four courses per academic year (2/2).

Özyeğin University is a private, non-profit research university located in scenic Istanbul, Turkey. Established in 2008, Özyeğin has rapidly ascended in both national and international university rankings, recognized as Turkey's youngest university featured in multiple Times Higher Education (THE) rankings. The primary language of instruction is English, admissions standards are rigorous, with most students receiving scholarship or financial aid.
