Assistant Professor of Asian American Studies

The Asian Studies Department at Vanderbilt University invites applications for the position of Mellon Assistant Professor of Asian American Studies (non-tenure-track, 3-year appointment, 2-2 teaching load). The department seeks a candidate with an innovative scholarly research agenda and a commitment to undergraduate education. The successful candidate will contribute to the vision and establishment of a new Asian American program of study at Vanderbilt. Applications are particularly welcome from humanistic and qualitative social science scholars whose research investigates Asian American studies within the broader contexts of Asian diaspora, migration, racial justice, and gender and sexuality studies.

Applicants must have fulfilled all requirements for their Ph.D, including completion of the dissertation, prior to the start of the position and no more than four years before.

To be considered, please submit by May 10, 2021 the following materials: cover letter, curriculum vitae, research statement, a writing sample (dissertation chapter or article), teaching statement which also includes evidence of teaching effectiveness, 2 syllabi (from existing or planned courses taught) and three letters of reference.

Interviews of finalists will be conducted by Zoom in late May 2021. The successful candidate will begin the position in August 2021.
