Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Biochemistry

The University of Zurich is committed to further strengthening biomolecular research at the Department of Biochemistry. We seek candidates that complement the current strengths of the department and have an outstanding track record in research addressing the molecular mechanisms of important biological and biomedical problems with innovative biochemical and biophysical techniques. Research areas of particular interest include, but are not limited to, integrative approaches for studying biomolecular interactions, assemblies, and machines, protein engineering and synthetic biology, and systems biology.

The Department of Biochemistry is located on the lrchel campus, in direct vicinity of the biological, biomedical, and physical science departments of the University of Zurich. Strong ties in research and teaching are in place with the nearby ETH Zurich, the Paul­Scherrer-Institute, and the University Hospitals. With its stimulating and attractive environment for interdisciplinary research, Zurich is a leading European center in biomedical research, including structural biology and biophysics.

Successful candidates are expected to develop an internationally competitive research program supported by additional external funding, and to commit to excellence in teaching of students at the Faculties of Medicine and Science.
