Position Overview

  • Research Focus:

    • Statistical genetics, genetic epidemiology, translational bioinformatics, or biomedical informatics applied to human genetics and genomics

    • Leveraging biobanks (Penn Medicine’s 275,000+ patient biobank)

    • Linking EHR data with genetic/genomic data to understand complex disease

    • Development of novel analytical methods (computational biology, statistical genetics, machine learning, AI)

  • Responsibilities:

    • Establish and run an independent, extramurally funded research lab

    • Publish in high-impact journals

    • Collaborate across departments within PSOM and the wider University

    • Teach and mentor graduate and medical students, participate in graduate groups


Qualifications

Required:

  • Ph.D., M.D., or M.D./Ph.D.

  • Postdoctoral research experience demonstrating strong promise for independent research

  • Expertise in computational genomics, statistical genetics, or bioinformatics

Preferred/Highly Valued:

  • Experience with large-scale biobank and EHR data

  • Track record of publications and external funding potential
