Human Evolutionary Biology
The Department of Integrative Biology (IB) at the University of California, Berkeley, seeks an interdisciplinary scientist working on questions in Human Evolutionary Biology, including human origins, human dispersal and diversity, adaptation to local environments, coevolution with pathogens and human symbionts, and the use of evolutionary analyses for understanding disease etiology, physiology, and the human condition more generally.
We seek a colleague who is highly integrative with a background in one or more of the fields of paleontology, anatomy, physiology, genetics, or comparative primatology, and who is using laboratory experiments and/or field work to address fundamental evolutionary questions. Candidates will be expected to have a strong interest in both undergraduate and graduate teaching and to contribute to instruction in core courses in anatomy, physiology, human evolution, or other forms of organismal biology. Competitive candidates will demonstrate evidence of outstanding research productivity, potential to obtain external funding, a commitment to excellence in teaching and in mentoring of undergraduates, graduate students, and post-docs, and a commitment to advancing equity, inclusion, non-discrimination, and belonging consistent with Berkeley's principles of community.
