The Department of Chemistry at Rutgers University-Newark invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the area of organic chemistry, broadly defined, to start September 2024. Applicants with research interests that complement existing departmental strengths are encouraged.
Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be expected to establish a vigorous, externally funded research program, to teach undergraduate organic chemistry, and to expand the diversity of our graduate (Ph.D. and M.S.) course offerings. Competitive start-up funds commensurate with the needs of the specific area will be provided.

Placing a strong emphasis on excellence in research, the Rutgers University-Newark Department of Chemistry (http://chemistry.rutgers.edu) is enjoying a period of dynamic growth with new faculty hires and the addition of research space and state-of-the art facilities. The collegial atmosphere of the Department promotes collaborations and joint projects. The Department maintains a vibrant, highly interdisciplinary graduate program and is exceptionally well equipped for its size. Among others, it houses three multinuclear NMR spectrometers (500 MHz and 600 MHz; including solid state capability); brand-new Rigaku single crystal and powder X-ray diffractometers; three mass spectrometers (including a brand-new Orbitrap HRMS with ESI, APCI, and DART capabilities); optical spectroscopy equipment (including ultrafast transient absorption, circular dichroism, and time-resolved fluorescence systems); scanning-electron, Raman, infrared, and multi-mode scanning probe microscopes; and a large array of polymer and nanomaterials characterization tools (GPC, light scattering, DSC, TGA, rheometer, DMA). Extensive additional shared experimental and high-performance computing resources are available within the Rutgers University system.
