Position Overview

The Department of Chemistry at Iowa State University invites applications for two term faculty teaching positions at the Assistant Teaching Professor rank. Responsibilities include:

  • Teaching large, in-person introductory courses and advanced undergraduate courses; assignments may evolve to include online teaching.

  • Initial teaching load: two courses per semester.

  • Service within the department, potentially focusing on TA management, undergraduate affairs, and other departmental/college activities.

  • Full integration into the department, including voting rights (excluding tenure-related decisions).

  • Opportunities to teach summer courses in person or online.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry or closely related area by the time of appointment.

  • University-level teaching experience.

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience as instructor of record in university-level chemistry courses.

  • Experience managing teaching assistants (TAs).

  • Ability or willingness to teach or revise online courses.
