VACANCY NO: IRC 1625
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the post of Associate Professor/Senior Lecturer/Lecturer in Educational Management in the Department of Educational Foundations, Faculty of Education.
Duties: The successful candidate will be expected to: i) teach educational management, leadership, planning and policy courses, ii) provide academic leadership through the enhancement of teaching, research, professional development; iii) take an active part in the supervision and assessment of graduate and undergraduate students’ research projects; iv) carry out any other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Head of Department.
Requirements:
Associate Professor: Applicants should have: (i) a Doctorate in any of the following areas: Educational Leadership, Educational Management, Educational Policy and Planning; (ii) at least 6 years relevant teaching experience at a university or comparable institution; (iii) a minimum of 12 pieces of research products (e.g. articles, book chapters, peer reviewed conference proceedings, etc.) published by recognized publishers. 8 of these must be articles in refereed/accredited journals in internationally recognized indexing databases. The remaining 4 publications could be journal articles, book chapters, peer reviewed conference proceedings, etc. published by recognized publishers. An academic book may be equivalent to a maximum of 4 articles in refereed/accredited journals, depending on the quality and standing of the publisher; (iv) sustained research output: a minimum of 2 peer reviewed publications every 3 years; (v) sustained research activity; ongoing externally supported research (e.g funded or commissioned); (vi) regular paper/poster presentations at national but also increasingly at international conferences; (vii) be lead and/or single author in at least one-third of the required journal publications. There should also be evidence of mentorship of early career scholars/graduate students; (viii) publications should be spread internationally and across journals; (viii) recognizable research impact, including but not limited to citations, the h-index, patents, policy applications, peer reviews, publications that are prescribed texts in other institutions etc. (required in at least 2 of the these); (ix) recognized as being of national but increasingly international research standing (e.g. peer reviewing of new research proposals; reference in research committees; editor/guest editor/reviewer of refereed/accredited national and international publishers; editorial board member of an international publisher in a relevant field; invitations as keynote speaker at national and international conferences (required in at least 2 of these); (x) evidence of governance and social engagement; (xi) research collaborations with other institutions or organisations; (xii) research collaboration with cognate disciplines in the University; (xiii) external examiner for Masters and/or PhD thesis nationally and/or internationally. The following will be added advantages: (i) research awards and other forms of research recognition, where appropriate; (ii) and multi-disciplinary experience in teaching, research, administration or consultancy work.
Senior Lecturer: Candidates should have: i) At least a relevant doctorate in any of the following areas: Educational Leadership, Educational Management, Educational Policy and Planning; ii) At least 3 years teaching experience at a university or comparable institution; iii) An excellent cumulative and sustained record of research and publications with at least 6 pieces of research products published by recognized publishers, 4 of which should be articles in refereed/accredited journals in internationally recognized indexing databases. The remaining 2 publications could be journal articles, books chapters, peer reviewed conference proceedings, etc. published by recognized publishers. An academic book may be equivalent to a maximum of 4 articles in referred/accredited journals, depending on the quality and standing of the publisher; iv) Sustained research output: a minimum of 1 peer reviewed publication every 2 years; v) Scholarly presentations at national and and/or international conferences; vi) be lead and/or single author in at least 2 referred journal articles; vii) Publications should be spread nationally and /or internationally and across journals; viii) Some research impact, including but not limited to citations, the h-index, patents policy applications, peer reviews, publications that are prescribed texts in other institutions, etc. (required in at least 1 of the these; ix) recognized as being of at least national research standing (eg reviewer of for refereed/accredited national and regional publishers); editorial board member of at least a national publisher in a relevant field; invitation keynote speaker at national/and or international conferences (required in at least 1 of these); x) Evidence of governance and social engagement activities. The following will be added advantages: i) Sustained research activity; on-going internally supported research; (ii) Research awards and other forms of research recognition, where appropriate; iii) Examiner/moderator/assessor for undergraduate and/or graduate; iv) effective and experience in running a programme/course, etc.
The curriculum vitae (CV) should contain a detailed list of publications, clearly specifying titled publications date published, name(s) of publishers and name(s) of co-authors if any Publications should be categorized into books monographs refereed and non-refereed journals, chapters in books etc.
