Position Overview

  • Teach four undergraduate courses per semester in the Linguistics major/minor.

  • Opportunity to teach in graduate programs.

  • Appointment comprises 85% teaching and 15% service.

  • Contribute to curriculum development and departmental service.

  • Focus on Sociocultural, Anthropological, and Interactional Linguistics (SAIL), with potential bridging to Computational Linguistics.

  • Courses may include: Language in US Society, Language & Gender, Ethnicity, Race & Language, Language & Social Media, World Language Policies, Language & Culture, or candidate’s area of expertise.


Qualifications

Required:

  • PhD in Linguistics or closely related field by start of appointment.

  • Minimum two years of university-level teaching experience.

  • Strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and mentoring students from diverse backgrounds.

Preferred / Ideal:

  • Experience with innovative teaching technologies, online and in-person modalities.

  • Ability to support student internships, practicum, and curriculum development.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
