The Department of Engineering Technology at Purdue University Northwest invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in the area of smart manufacturing in the Mechanical Engineering Technology program. The position will support strategic focus areas of the College of Technology within smart manufacturing from the context of digitalization and Industry 4.0.
The successful candidate will teach in the ABET-accredited Mechanical Engineering Technology program, with a focus on Smart Manufacturing. Relevant. In addition to teaching in active classrooms, the successful candidate will be expected to aid in curriculum development and enhancement in the Smart Manufacturing Area. The successful candidate will also participate in the graduate program, teaching new and existing graduate classes, and mentoring graduate students at both the Master's and Doctoral levels.
The applied research portfolio of the department crosses the disciplines of Mechanical, Electrical, and Mechatronics Engineering Technology, with focus areas in materials, robotics and the Internet of Things (IoT), smart and additive manufacturing, energy systems, healthcare technologies, Automation, and supply chain systems.
The successful candidate for this position is expected to conduct research to support the development of Smart Manufacturing initiatives of the department. The successful candidate is expected to develop an independent, externally funded research program in a chosen research area, and to sustainably support graduate and undergraduate research.
Applicants must have earned a Doctoral or terminal degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline such as manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, engineering technology. Candidates must demonstrate oral and written communication skills through documented classroom effectiveness or external engagement activities.
