Position Overview:
The University of Gothenburg invites applications for a 5-year fixed-term, full-time Associate Senior Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Experimental Medical Science. This career-development position is designed to provide the appointee with the opportunity to develop independence as a researcher, establish a competitive research program, and gain qualifications in both research and teaching to progress to Senior Lecturer.
Research Focus:
Experimental Medical Science covers molecular and cellular-level research into normal and disease processes. Areas include infection biology, cancer biology, immunology, genetics, and pathology, using biochemical, cell biological, and molecular biological techniques.
Responsibilities:
Conduct independent, internationally competitive research.
Publish in high-quality peer-reviewed journals as senior author.
Secure major national or international research funding.
Supervise postdoctoral researchers and doctoral students.
Build national and international collaborations and networks.
Participate in teaching at undergraduate, advanced, and postgraduate levels.
Contribute to pedagogical development, course coordination, and academic administration.
Eligibility:
PhD in Medical or Life Sciences or equivalent research expertise.
Research expertise preferably within seven years of PhD award (exceptions considered for parental leave, sick leave, etc.).
Ability to teach in English; proficiency in Swedish (B2 level) required for promotion to Senior Lecturer, with language courses provided.
Assessment Criteria:
Scientific skills: High-quality publications, ability to secure research funding, leadership in research, national/international collaborations.
Pedagogical skills: Effective teaching, supervision, and pedagogical development at all levels.
Administrative skills: Leadership, collaboration, and academic service.
Employment Details:
Full-time (100%), fixed-term for 5 years with potential extension for exceptional circumstances.
Placement at the Institute of Biomedicine.
Start date: by agreement.
