The University of Chicago's Department of Neurobiology is searching for a Research Assistant Professor whose primary activity will be academic research in association with a faculty member or team. The appointee will be responsible for:
Preparing samples for X-ray and electron microscopy (EM) imaging (e.g., animal perfusions, tissue fixation and staining, ultra-thin sectioning, operating microscopes to collect image series)
Analyzing resulting datasets
Writing manuscripts
Applying for grants both as a member of the larger team and for independent funding
We welcome applicants with experience in large volume serial electron microscopy (connectomics), synchrotron source X-ray imaging of brains in health and disease, and experience in algorithms used to analyze these datasets. The appointee will ultimately create an independent research effort with dedicated extramural funding that complements existing strengths within our academic community.

Doctoral degree or equivalent in Biological Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, or a related discipline
Completion of postdoctoral training prior to the start of employment
Strong publication record
Demonstrated ability to obtain extramural grants
