Job Title: Clinical Assistant Professor
City: West Lafayette
The School of Nursing at Purdue University West Lafayette Campus is seeking to fill an Assistant Clinical Professor position. This is a full-time academic year appointment with a desired start date of August 17, 2026. Individuals in this role will contribute to the clinical teaching, engagement, and service missions of the University, College of Health and Human Sciences, and School of Nursing. Depending on departmental needs, this posting may be used to fill multiple positions.

The undergraduate program is ranked top 8% nationally
The MS program is ranked top 4%
The DNP program is ranked top 9% (U.S. News & World Report)
The SON has a diverse faculty of 40 clinical and 14 research/tenure-track members, recognized for innovative educational approaches including high-fidelity and virtual reality simulation and active learning. The School leads research that advances evidence-based care and provides transformative learning experiences. Nursing clinics include one campus-based and four community-based locations.
In 2027, the SON will move into a new state-of-the-art building designed to support next-generation learning, discovery, and engagement.
The successful candidate will help develop clinical nurse leaders who can transform healthcare. Responsibilities may include:
Delivering lectures and facilitating learning in undergraduate and/or graduate nursing courses.
Overseeing students during clinical rotations.
Teaching hands-on nursing skills in simulation labs.
Evaluating student performance through exams, assignments, clinical assessments, and practical evaluations.
Fostering interprofessional education opportunities with other disciplines.
Master’s degree in nursing
At least 5 years clinical experience
National certification in area of expertise within one year of start date
RN licensure in the U.S.; Indiana RN licensure by start date
DNP/PhD in Nursing or related field
Previous college-level teaching experience
