Position Overview

BRIC seeks a motivated scientist to establish an independent research group focused on translational type 1 diabetes research, integrating both basic and clinical perspectives. The position involves:

  • Developing and leading an independent research program.

  • Conducting high-quality research with publications in leading journals.

  • Securing funding and developing team members.

  • Conducting research-based teaching and examination.

  • Engaging in local and international collaborations, multidisciplinary projects, and center activities (talent and technology development).

  • Contributing to the scientific environment and culture at BRIC.

Work Allocation:

  • 50% University of Copenhagen – academic tasks (research, teaching, evaluations, public communication)

  • 50% Bartholin Institute – research administration, personnel management, method development, grant writing, and group establishment


Candidate Profile

  • PhD and postdoctoral training.

  • Track record of high-quality research, publications, and competitive funding.

  • Leadership and educational experience.

  • Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills.

  • Optional: Outreach, technology transfer, or other relevant capabilities.

Preferred Background: Translational type 1 diabetes, molecular mechanisms, with the ability to bridge research and clinical perspectives.

Terms of Employment

  • Initial 6-year appointment for Associate Professor.

  • Promotion or permanent employment possible based on evaluation.

  • Full professor appointments possible for highly experienced candidates.

  • Full-time, 37 hours/week.

  • Salary according to Danish Ministry of Taxation and AC agreements.
