Job description

The department of Psychology has an opening for Assistant Professor in the domain of Social, Health and Organisational Psychology. The positions are embedded within the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences.

Our teaching is implemented in the Bachelor's programme Psychology, the one-year Master's programme Social, Health and Organisational Psychology (SHOP), the research Master's Social and Health Psychology and in the Bachelor's programme and research Master's programme Artificial Intelligence (AI). Our department also teaches courses at University College Utrecht and provides Teaching for Professionals. Teaching includes (large-scale) lectures, (small-scale) seminars, and (individual) internship and thesis supervision, along with more general tasks of coordination and administration.

In terms of research, our SHOP programme combines fundamental and applied approaches. Core themes studied within our programme include cognition and social behaviour; self-regulation and behaviour change; interpersonal relationships; work, performance and well-being; diversity and inclusion; and radicalisation. Moreover, within our university, our group collaborates with other disciplines within the interdisciplinary strategic themes ‘Institutions for Open Societies’, ‘Dynamics of Youth’, and ‘Pathways to Sustainability’ and ‘Focus area Human-Centered AI’. Our group is committed to team science and practices Open Science.

We are looking for an Assistant Professor who can strengthen our teaching and research in the domains relevant to the Social, Health and Organizational Psychology group, and specifically within the research theme ‘Diversity and Inclusion in Organisations’.

Qualifications

We are looking for an enthusiastic colleague who meets multiple of the following requirements:

  • You hold (or nearly finishing) a PhD degree in the field of social and/or organisational psychology, or a related field.
  • Your research profile shows a clear interest in the theme “Diversity and Inclusion” and preferably also aligns with and complements those studied in our SHOP research programme.
  • You have scientific creativity and productivity, as evident in recent publications in international peer-reviewed journals or peer-reviewed conferences.
  • You have experience with communicating and working together with societal stakeholders.
  • You hold a Basic Teaching Qualification (BKO) or are willing to acquire one soon.
  • You have experience and skills in academic teaching.
  • You have experience in (co)developing and (co)coordinating academic courses.
  • You are fluent in spoken and written English at an academic level.
  • You are fluent in Dutch or willing to learn Dutch, as we believe that understanding and speaking Dutch makes it easier to teach and connect with colleagues. We offer free Dutch language courses.

We offer:

  • a position (0.8 - 1.0 FTE) for one year, after a positive evaluation at the end of the first year, the appointment will be made permanent;
  • a full-time gross salary between €4,332 and €6,737 in scale 11/12 of the Collective Labour Agreement Dutch Universities (CAO);
  • 8% holiday bonus and 8.3% end-of-year bonus;
  • a pension scheme, partially paid parental leave, and flexible employment conditions based on the Collective Labour Agreement Dutch Universities.
