Position Overview

The Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University announces an open competition for the position of Assistant Professor.

Who Are We Looking For

We are looking for a colleague to join the Institute of Psychology as an Assistant Professor, with a focus on pedagogical and school psychology.


Main Job Content

Pedagogical

  • Participation in teaching in bachelor’s, master’s, and lifelong learning programmes.
  • Supervising, consulting on, or reviewing bachelor’s and master’s theses.
  • In exceptional cases, acting as a supervisor or consultant in a doctoral degree programme.
  • Participation in the organizational coordination and support of the department’s teaching activities.
  • Participation in publication activities, especially for educational purposes.

Research

Participation in research, development, and innovation activities, including:

  • Independently addressing complex research and development tasks and publishing the results in peer-reviewed journals, scholarly monographs, or peer-reviewed conference proceedings.
  • Actively participating in domestic and international scientific conferences and professional meetings, including the presentation of research findings.
  • Contributing to the organisational coordination and support of research activities.

Other

Participation in operational and administrative activities related to the academic position held, as instructed by the head of the department, including:

  • Carrying out routine administrative tasks related to the management of one’s own courses, the use of e-learning tools, and communication with students through the MU Information System.
  • Contributing to the promotion of the field of study.

Requirements

Professional Education, Qualifications and Experience

  • Master’s degree in single-subject Psychology — required.
  • Ph.D. in Psychology — required.
  • Professional specialisation in educational and school psychology — required.
  • Completed therapeutic training — required.
  • Experience in leading a research project — required.
  • Active publication record — required.
  • Professional experience abroad outside the Czech Republic and Slovakia in an academic or research institution for a minimum of 6 months, completed either continuously or in two shorter periods whose combined duration totals at least 6 months.

Applicants who do not meet the required level of international experience may, in justified cases, include a request for an exception with a brief explanation of their situation with their application.

  • Active participation in international conferences.

Required Experience

  • At least 2 years of experience in the field of psychology.

Language Skills

  • English language proficiency at B2 levelrequired.
  • Excellent written and spoken Czech language skills — required.

  • Presentation, organizational, didactic, and mentoring skills.
  • Ability to:
    • communicate effectively with students and engage them in learning;
    • use modern teaching resources and materials;
    • publish independently;
    • present research results to an international professional community and a wide audience.
