We are looking for

The Donders Centre for Cognition (DCC), part of the Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition and Behaviour, and the School of Psychology invite applications for an assistant professor position in Sensorimotor Neuroscience. We are looking for candidates with a clear research and teaching profile. Sensorimotor Neuroscience studies the neural mechanisms of perceptual processing, motor control and sensorimotor integration, building on theory, methods, and findings of psychology, neuroscience, and related disciplines. For this new position, we seek candidates with expertise in behavioral approaches, neuroimaging techniques, statistics and/or modeling to study human neuroscience in the general field of perception, action and control. Teaching will be within Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience. This position includes the coordination of the Psychology Honours Programme. You will also be expected to supervise students working on their Bachelor's and Master's theses, support courses (e.g. Brain, Cognition and Behaviour) and help out at the Statistics and Methodology Advice Point.

We ask

  • A doctoral degree (PhD) in sensorimotor or cognitive neuroscience, psychology, or a related discipline.
  • Track record of publications in the general field of perception, action and control in major peer-reviewed journals.
  • Experience in the acquisition of external funding.
  • Proven ability to provide inspiring and high quality teaching in Dutch and English.
  • A university teaching qualification (UTQ) or the willingness to acquire such a certificate.
  • Methods and statistical skills and willingness to supervise undergraduate students in this area.
  • Willingness to help organise an inspiring honours program within the Bachelor's degree programme in Psychology.
  • Good social, communication and organisational skills and team spirit.

We offer

  • Employment: 0.8 - 1.0 FTE.
  • You will be employed as an Assistant Professor level 2 (salary scale 11, maximum gross monthly salary of €5,127.- based on a 38-hour working week) or Assistant Professor level 1 (salary scale 12, maximum gross monthly salary of € 5,826.- based on a 38-hour working week), depending on your qualifications and (relevant) work experience.
  • In addition to the salary: an 8% holiday allowance and an 8.3% end-of-year bonus.
  • Duration of the contract: 2 years. Permanent role if your performance is deemed satisfactory after a maximum of 4 years.
  • The intended start date is 1 September 2021, or as soon as possible.
