The Donders Centre for Cognition (DCC), part of the Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition and Behaviour, and the School of Artificial Intelligence invite applications for an assistant professor position in Sensorimotor Neuroscience and Technology. We are looking for candidates with a clear research and teaching profile. Sensorimotor Neuroscience studies the neural mechanisms of perceptual processing, motor control and sensorimotor integration, building on the theory, methods, and findings of neuroscience, artificial intelligence, psychology, and related disciplines. For this new position, we seek candidates with expertise in AI techniques (e.g. probabilistic reasoning, optimal control, reinforcement learning, neural nets, deep learning) who know to apply such techniques to gain a better understanding of human sensorimotor behaviour in health and disease and can help us advance the development of intelligent technology with a view to improving the well-being of people. This position involves teaching courses in the Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes in Artificial Intelligence, particularly in the Intelligent Technology specialisation. You will also supervise students working on their Bachelor's or Master's theses.
Strategically located in Europe, Radboud University is one of the leading academic communities in the Netherlands. A place with a personal touch, where top-flight education and research take place on a beautiful green campus, in modern buildings with state-of-art facilities. The successful candidate will be embedded in the Donders Centre for Cognition and the School of Artificial Intelligence, both part of the Faculty of Social Sciences. DCC is one of the 4 centres of the Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition and Behaviour, and offers excellent research facilities, such as EEG, TMS and motion tracking labs, robotic manipulanda, motion platforms, neuromorphic computing facilities, access to fMRI and other neuroimaging facilities, an in-house technical support group and workshop and close connections to clinical departments. Research at the Donders Institute is focused around four themes: 1. Language and communication, 2. Perception, action and control, 3. Plasticity and memory, 4. Neural computation and neurotechnology. The Institute was assessed by an international evaluation committee as excellent and recognised as a 'very stimulating environment for top researchers, as well as for young talent'. The Donders Institute is an equal opportunity employer, committed to building a culturally diverse intellectual community, and as such encourages applications from women and minorities.
