Position Overview

  • Tenure-stream faculty position in Statistical Sciences, focusing on applied statistics, with strengths in spatial statistics and/or applied machine learning

  • Integrate statistics with knowledge co-production for urban sustainability transitions, equity, and socio-environmental challenges

  • Contribute to undergraduate and graduate curriculum, including teaching and student supervision

  • Establish an independent, externally funded research program


Required Qualifications

  • PhD in Statistics or related area (Computer Science, Data Science, Quantitative Social Science, Sociology, Economics, Epidemiology, etc.)

  • Strong research record with publications in top-ranked journals or forthcoming work meeting high international standards

  • Demonstrated teaching excellence, supported by teaching dossier, sample materials, evaluations, and reference letters

  • Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in teaching, research, and service


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct independent research aligned with CERC NEST goals

  • Teach and mentor undergraduate and graduate students

  • Contribute to tri-campus Graduate Department of Statistical Sciences activities

  • Engage in knowledge mobilization connecting statistics to community and policy applications


Salary & Benefits

  • Expected salary range: $150,000 – $190,000 CAD/year, negotiable for exceptional candidates
