Assistant Project Scientist

Department of Molecular, Cell and Developmental Biology

Nature of the research:
· Investigating mechanisms by which the reproductive system forms and functions in mammals
· Working with stem cells, animal models and primary tissues.
· Gaining a better understanding of how germ cell development is controlled and how this process could be harnessed to understand fertility and build better contraceptives

Role and Responsibilities:
· Designing experiments and implementing research projects.
· Performing stem cell research and reprogramming, dissections, and immunofluorescence on various tissues and cells of mice and humans.
· Conducting high resolution imaging microscopy using various technologies.
· Managing a small team of undergraduate researchers.
· Collaborating across multiple projects within the laboratory and internationally.
· Communicating research findings within the laboratory and internationally.
· Writing papers, grant proposals and generating publication quality figures.

Experience and qualifications required:
· PhD in the field of cell biology or related field including biochemistry preferably with knowledge of stem cell biology
· 5 years or more of postdoctoral experience at a high-level research laboratory in the field of developmental and stem cell biology
· Proficiency in techniques such as immunofluorescence, flow cytometry, RNASeq, live imaging, organ culture and the generation of organoids
· A publication track record in high quality academic journals.
· Evidence of excellent communication skills from presentations at national and international conferences.
