The Center for Healthy Aging (CHA) at The Pennsylvania State University (PSU) invites applications for a non-tenure track Assistant Research Professor position to work on research investigating the intersections of interpersonal/family relationships, health, and aging. This position is designed to extend the current portfolio of the Center for Healthy Aging to facilitate research that uses interdisciplinary and developmental approach to better understand how technology (particularly pervasive mobile devices) can be used to assess either risk or resilience for the aging individual, and monitor emotional, physical, and cognitive health in adulthood. Responsibilities will generally include managing NIH-funded research studies; data analyses; preparation of manuscripts and conference presentations; contributing to grant preparation; data collection and/or management; and participation in interdisciplinary research groups. The position will afford opportunities to publish, access to exceptional resources to facilitate development of independent research, and interdisciplinary collaboration. The successful candidate will have a background in psychological, behavioral and health science with an emphasis on cognition, health and aging, and strong methodological skills including multilevel modeling, structural equation modeling, and within-person approaches. This position requires a Ph.D. degree in the social, behavioral or health sciences, plus at least 1 year of research experience with using mobile devices to measure cognition in older adults. The strongest candidates will have a track record of experience with study design, data collection, and analysis with intensive longitudinal studies, successfully publishing in peer reviewed journals and obtaining external funding, either as principal investigator or in collaboration with other researchers.
