Salary range: The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 13-B. The salary range for this position is $83,300-$98,400. "Off-scale salaries", i.e. a salary that is higher than the published system-wide salary at the designated rank and step, are offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions

Position description

The Department of Earth, Planetary, and Space Sciences at the University of California, Los Angeles, seeks applicants for an Assistant Researcher. The candidate must hold a Ph.D. in physics or related fields.

The person hired will conduct research on transient structures inside the Earth's foreshock. The incumbent shall conduct simulations to understand the formation mechanisms and characteristics of foreshock transients. Demonstrated experience with numerical simulations, spacecraft data analysis, and space plasma theory are desired. a Ph.D. in physics or related fields is required. Work is to be carried out in collaboration with Dr. Terry Zixu Liu and Prof. Vassilis Angelopoulos.
