Position description

Health Sciences Assistant/Associate Clinical Professor – Geriatric Psychiatry Service

The University of California, Davis, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences is recruiting for a Health Sciences Assistant/Associate Clinical Professor to serve as teaching attending physician in its Geriatric Psychiatry Outpatient Clinic with a culturally diverse patient population. The applicant(s) will also be supervising general psychiatry residents with their geriatric cases, and both general and combined residents in IM/Psych FM/Psych. Time is allocated for didactic teaching, case conferences, and supervision. In addition, the applicant(s) will engage in scholarly or creative activities derived from and in support of their clinical teaching, professional and service activities. The candidates will also evaluate and treat their own patients.

Requirements for this position include an MD, board certification in general psychiatry and geriatric psychiatry, a California Medical license (or eligibility for licensure in the State of California). Teaching and supervisory experience of residents, fellows, and medical students is preferred, as well as experience supervising adult psychiatry residents/fellows, general psychiatry residents, and medical students. Experience with neuromodulation strategies (e.g. ECT or TMS) is not required, but is desirable.

This recruitment is conducted at the Assistant/Associate Rank in the health sciences clinical professor series, and the resulting hires will be at the Assistant/Associate rank in this series regardless of the proposed appointee's qualifications.

The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences has approximately 65 residents in six residency training programs and 90 faculty and staff psychiatrists and psychologists at the UC Davis Medical Center and the Northern California VA Health System. Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

--MD
--Board certification in general psychiatry
--Board certification in geriatric psychiatry
--California Medical license (or eligibility for licensure in the State of California)

Preferred qualifications
