Position Description

The Division of Hospital Medicine at the University of Washington is seeking a full-time hospitalist to join our faculty as a full-time Assistant Professor (without tenure by reason of funding) or Associate Professor (without tenure by reason of funding), on the Clinician-Scholar track. Rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. This is a 12-month service period (July 1- June 30) with an anticipated start date of July 2021. 

The successful candidate will have duties at Seattle Children's Hospital/University of Washington, School of Medicine, and the Providence Regional Medical Center at Everett. Our career hospitalists have diverse backgrounds and interests, and participate in a variety of quality improvement, patient safety, educational, and faculty development initiatives.  All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service. 

Main Campus Resident & Non-Resident Teaching Services (Seattle)

Our hospitalists attend on the General Medicine resident teaching services for rotations up to 7 days in length.  We provide direct supervision and bedside/didactic teaching of fellows, residents and medical students.  Our hospitalists also attend on the General Medicine non-resident teaching service with a mix of day (10.5 hours) and night (14.5 hours) shifts.  We provide direct daytime supervision and bedside/didactic teaching of medical students and advanced practice fellows.  We also provide general pediatric consultative services to medical and surgical specialty teams.

Providence Regional Medical Center at Everett

Our hospitalists attend on the General Medicine teaching service with a mix of day (10.5 hours) and night (14.5 hours) shifts.  We provide direct daytime supervision and bedside/didactic teaching of medical students and residents on a community hospital elective.  We also provide general pediatric consultative services for the emergency room and surgical services.

Qualifications

Applicants must have an MD/DO (or foreign equivalent) and completed both a 3-year General Pediatrics residency and a 3-year Pediatric Hospital Medicine fellowship with U.S. board certification in both General Pediatrics and Pediatric Hospital Medicine.  Applicants must also have a Master of Science in Clinical and Translational Research with a scholarly focus in improving the quality of care for children hospitalized in the community setting.

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or foreign equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
