Assistant/Associate Professor of Psychology

Louisiana Tech University

Thank you for your interest in employment with Louisiana Tech University.

The Department of Psychology and Behavioral Sciences at Louisiana Tech invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor in Industrial-Organizational Psychology. The position involves graduate teaching and mentoring at both the doctoral and masters level, productive research activity, and service to the department, college, university, and profession. Individuals who have completed all requirements other than the dissertation (ABD status) are welcome to apply. The appointment is for the nine-month academic year.  The starting date is flexible, with September 1, 2024 as the target start date.

The successful candidate will become part of an I-O program recognized for the exceptional applied developmental opportunities it affords PhD students. The I-O programs have the strong and ongoing support of the Department and University. There is a culture of collaboration with graduate programs in counseling psychology (PhD; APA-accredited), cognitive science (MS), sport psychology (MS), and engineering (PhD). The success of new faculty is a primary goal of the department, and we invest resources to achieve that goal.

We value diversity and seek to foster it through a commitment to recruit, retain, and develop those from historically under-represented groups in academia. Our inclusive efforts are grounded in three core values around people, knowledge, and culture. Achieving inclusion excellence takes alignment of curricular offerings, resources, and programming that prepare our students and faculty to compete in a diverse global society.

A PhD in Industrial-Organizational Psychology, or closely related field from an accredited college or university at the time of appointment is preferred. ABDs are encouraged to apply, as are individuals who have had successful careers in applied settings but are now interested in academic roles. Potential to develop a programmatic line of research is valued. Opportunities to teach organizational psychology (e.g., leadership, work engagement, OD) or personnel (e.g., selection) courses at the graduate level are anticipated, commensurate with credentials and experience.

Please submit the following: Cover letter, current CV, statement of philosophies on teaching and diversity, and the name and contact information for three professional references who will be expected to provide verbal and written recommendations on your behalf.
