The Department of Surgery, Division of General Surgery at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre (SHSC) is inviting applications for a full-time member of the Division of General Surgery who has significant expertise in minimally invasive/robotic colorectal oncologic surgery and has a strong academic track record. This position will be based primarily at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. The effective date of this appointment is July 1, 2027, or at a time convenient to the applicant. This is an academic position and is associated with 40% protected time for academic activities.
The successful candidate will be a full-time credentialed member of the Division of General Surgery at SHSC. The candidate will be eligible for an appointment to the Department of Surgery at University of Toronto at a rank of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor commensurate with their qualification and academic achievement.
The candidate will have substantial experience in providing excellent clinical multidisciplinary care in oncologic colorectal surgery and established excellence in academic activity (research, quality improvement), as well as having significant robotic/minimally invasive colorectal cancer surgery experience and expertise.
Clinically, the successful candidate will manage a broad range of colorectal oncologic patients and must be able to work collegially and collaboratively with the team of health care providers. The role involves training University of Toronto medical students, surgery residents, and clinical fellows.
The successful candidate will have a mandate to conduct academic work and must possess a graduate degree (Masters or PhD equivalent) and documented expertise in their appropriate area of academic activity. Evidence of excellence in teaching and research is required.
This is an academic position requiring clinical expertise in colorectal surgery. The candidate should possess a fellowship and formal certification in colorectal oncology (colorectal/surgical oncology) and board certification either from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, the American Board of Surgery, or equivalent.
The successful candidate should be eligible for an academic appointment in the Department of Surgery, Temerty Faculty of Medicine, at the rank of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor. The successful candidate must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
The candidate will be expected to demonstrate a commitment to advance the strategic goals and vision of the Division of General Surgery and Department of Surgery at University of Toronto.
