Position Summary
Due to a retirement, the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Indiana University School of Medicine (IUSM) in conjunction with IU Health Physicians (IUHP), are recruiting an experienced dermatopathologist to fulfill the role of director of dermatopathology.

The individual selected will be based at the IU Health Central Pathology Laboratory (IUHPL). Anatomic pathology is now comprised of over 50 pathologists, with a plan for continued expansion. The dermatopathology division has 6 board certified dermatopathologists and serves 8 hospitals in the IU Health Hospital Network and Eskenazi Health. The dermatopathology division supports a comprehensive dermatopathology fellowship training program for up to 2 fellows per year. A team of nine certified pathologists’ assistants and two grossing technicians serve as support to the anatomic pathology faculty including dermatopathology. The ability to recruit and attract top talent to the growing department has been strong over the past 18 months. The ideal candidate will arrive at a freshly renovated histology and immunohistochemistry laboratories designed to accommodate the integration of digital pathology into the practice. Pathologists also have open access to a research histology/immunohistochemistry pathology core for clinical and translational research endeavors. These factors afford our new director of dermatopathology the rare opportunity to build and innovate.
The department is a strong proponent of career development and professional growth in role. As a result, this position will have strong mentoring support from the chair and vice chairs in the department.

Responsibilities:
·Set strategy and policy for dermatopathology for the health system
·Drive change and implement new technologies and practices in the department
·Clearly communicate expectations and changes to dermatopathology faculty
·Oversee pathology sign-out service of 6 dermatopathology faculty
·Provide direction of dermatopathology services at 8 hospitals within the IU Health Hospital System plus the affiliated country hospital (Eskenazi Hospital)
·Teach medical students, residents, and fellows, including two dermatopathology fellows

Basic Qualifications
Doctorate or terminal degree is required. The applicant must be certified by the American Board of Pathology in anatomic pathology or anatomic and clinical pathology; applicant must be boarded in dermatopathology. Applicants must be qualified for licensure in the state of Indiana.
