The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is seeking a full-time physician for a tenure-track/tenured, fixed-term, or variable track position at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor for the Transfusion Medicine Service. Applicants should be committed to excellence in clinical services, teaching and research in a field relevant to blood coagulation or transfusion medicine. Applicants with expertise in clinical coagulation and with a specific research program in coagulation, blood banking, or transfusion medicine will be prioritized, as there are excellent opportunities for collaboration with the UNC Blood Research Center. Clinical Coagulation duties include interpretations of coagulation testing, consultations in the diagnosis and management of patients with bleeding and thrombotic disorders, as well as troubleshooting and development of tests for the laboratory. Our Tranfusion Medicine Service encompasses donor collections, therapeutic apheresis, hematopoietic progenitor cell collection and processing, blood component processing, and compatibility testing.

Candidates must hold a MD/DO degree, be BC/BE in Transfusion Medicine, and must have or be eligible for a North Carolina medical license.

Experience in hematopoietic progenitor cell collection and processing and/or coagulation testing is desirable.
