Position Overview

The University of Copenhagen is offering a position within the ESS Lighthouse: Colloids and Interfaces in Food and Pharma (CaIFF) center. This role focuses on neutron-based research of colloidal systems in food science, involving:

  • Investigation of non-equilibrium multicomponent colloidal systems relevant to food.

  • Use of neutron-based and other state-of-the-art physicochemical methods.

  • Advanced data analysis, simulations, and modeling of scattering data.

  • Design and development of experimental setups, including complex deuteration methods.

The position is anchored at the Department of Food Science but is a joint appointment with the Niels Bohr Institute, offering collaboration across both institutes and access to affiliated facilities.


Candidate Requirements

Essential Qualifications:

  • PhD in a relevant field.

  • Experience with neutron- and/or X-ray-based methodologies.

  • Experience with soft matter or food colloid systems.

  • Strong skills in modeling and advanced data analysis of scattering data.

  • Excellent English communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expertise in small-angle scattering (SAS), QENS, reflectometry, or imaging.

  • Strong background in soft matter and experimental colloid science relevant to food.

  • Ability to work in teams and communicate across disciplines.


Duties

Tenure-Track Assistant Professor:

  • Conduct internationally competitive research.

  • Research-based teaching with examination obligations (limited).

  • Demonstrate potential to attract funding and impact the field.

Associate Professor:

  • University-level teaching experience with documented qualifications.

  • Supervise and train students and research staff.

  • Conduct original, internationally recognized research.

  • Contribute to field development, grant applications, and research management.
