Role Overview

The Senior Technical Officer will support teaching, learning, and research activities in the Department of Physiology, focusing on human cardiorespiratory and cerebrovascular physiology. The role requires expertise in study design, project management, ethics applications, and execution of laboratory, field, or clinical physiology projects.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design, execute, and manage studies in human cardiorespiratory and cerebrovascular physiology.

  • Prepare ethics applications for research studies.

  • Manage project data and laboratory resources efficiently.

  • Support research and teaching activities across the Department.

  • Provide technical expertise in laboratory and field/clinical studies.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Essential:

    • Master’s degree in Human Physiology (or equivalent).

    • Proven experience in human cardiorespiratory physiology research.

    • Demonstrable experience working at a high level in life sciences or related settings.

  • Desirable:

    • Clinical experience.

    • Prior employment as a Technical Officer in an Irish university before July 2006.

  • Competencies: Project and data management, ethics applications, laboratory and field studies.

  • Garda vetting and/or international police clearance may be required.
