Role Overview

  • Support the establishment and delivery of the Master’s in Social Work programme.

  • Contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching as relevant.

  • Conduct and lead research in Social Work, contributing significantly to the Department’s research profile.

  • Engage in policy and practice-oriented impact work at local, national, and international levels.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate Social Work programmes.

  • Contribute to research outputs aligned with departmental goals.

  • Support development and implementation of the flagship Master’s in Social Work programme.

  • Supervise postgraduate students (Masters & PhD).

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams within the Faculty and externally.

  • Ensure professional practice and registration compliance with CORU – the Health and Social Care Professional Regulator in Ireland.


Candidate Profile

Essential Qualifications:

  • PhD in Social Work (or a closely related discipline) or near completion before the post starts.

  • Professional qualification in Social Work.

  • Registered or eligible for registration with CORU. Registration must be completed prior to commencement.

Desirable Attributes:

  • Experience in research-led teaching and curriculum development.

  • Strong record of research publications and securing funding.

  • Commitment to social impact and societal engagement.

  • Familiarity with quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods approaches.

  • Ability to supervise postgraduate students.
