Posting Summary

The Chief of Neurology is responsible for the leadership, management, clinical oversight, and operational effectiveness of the Jersey City Medical Center neurology division. Physician’s responsibilities shall include but not be limited to the following:

Administrative (20%)
Provide oversight of the Jersey City Medical Center Neurology Division, Including:

  • Drive programmatic growth and Neurology divisional engagement at JCMC ambulatory hubs across the JCMC service area in partnership with the Barnabas Health Medical Group and in alignment with JCMC’s

strategic plan.

  • Perform community outreach in support of Neurology divisional volume growth and provide coordinated, integrated care for patients in collaboration with the Medical Group while building the BHMG medical


  • Complete recruitment of 2 additional attending Neurologists to serve Hudson County. Maintain oversight of quality, safety, and patient engagement within the Neurology Division.
  • Develop and maintain Neurology Division treatment pathways in keeping with the latest evidence based standards of care
  • Attend Department of Medicine meetings and disseminate relevant information to other Neurology division staff
  • Maintain monthly Neurology M&M reviews and perform neurology QA reviews as needed and directed by leadership
  • Participate in multidisciplinary quality and patient safety committees and engage in Quality Improvement efforts as determined by JCMC leadership
  • Assist in developing and maintaining a professional clinical environment
  • Maintain all current programmatic and regulatory certifications at JCMC (stroke etc.) and develop additional centers of excellence.

Academic (10%)
Provide education for residents, fellows, students and others as directed by Rutgers and JCMC educational needs, including but not limited to:

  • Participation in clinical and didactic teaching of learners at all levels
  • Participate actively in divisional and departmental Grand Rounds
  • Providing education and outreach sessions for the medical and lay community in Hudson County
  • Maintain a strong connection and relationship with the department of Neurology at Rutgers, including all requirements for maintaining a faculty appointment as determined by Rutgers
  • Complete required annual CME, including ongoing professional education in stroke and general neurology

Clinical (70%) –

  • Physician’s clinical responsibilities shall be subject to the direction of Employer and shall include, but not be limited to the following:
  • Provide clinical care to patients admitted to the JCMC acute care facility with neurological complaints
  • Share in General Neurology Service Call with other JCMC Neurology Medical Staff as determined by the Chairman of the Department of Medicine
  • Contribute to the development of treatment protocols, management plans, and evidence-based treatment standards for general neurology and stroke patients

Provide continuous care to patients admitted to the facility with stroke, including but not limited to:

  • Sharing in stroke call coverage at JCMC
  • Providing direct patient care for stroke patients in the Emergency Department and patient care units
  • Assisting in maintenance of DNV/Joint Commission certification for primary stroke centers, and other certifications as indicated.
  • Provide outpatient clinical services to Hudson County patients in accordance with regulatory standards and clinical best practices.
  • Conduct professional activities in accordance and compliance with all applicable Federal, State and Local laws and regulations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience

Candidates must be graduates of an ACGME-accredited neurology residency and vascular neurology fellowship with active board-certification.
