Position Description

The Department of Pediatrics, Section of Emergency Medicine at the University of Chicago seeks part-time Clinical Associates to serve as Primary Attending physicians in our Pediatric Level I Trauma–accredited Emergency Room at Comer Children’s Hospital. Appointments are for renewable one-year terms.

We are seeking collaborative physicians who thrive in a busy, dynamic clinical environment. These positions are strictly clinical and do not require teaching or scholarly activity. Compensation is based on clinical shifts worked.


About Comer Children’s Hospital

  • A state-of-the-art, free-standing children’s hospital located on the main University campus in Chicago’s Hyde Park.

  • Home to the only Level I Pediatric Trauma Center on the South Side of Chicago.

  • Pediatric Emergency Room treats 35,000+ patients annually.

  • Newly renovated facility includes 22 exam rooms, 2 procedure rooms, 2 triage rooms, and 2 trauma/resuscitation rooms.

  • The Section of Pediatric Emergency Medicine is deeply engaged in medical education, research, patient care, and community service and supports:

    • An accredited fellowship program

    • A nurse practitioner program

    • Active residency programs (Pediatrics, Med/Peds, Emergency Medicine)

    • Clinical training for University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine students


Qualifications

Applicants must meet the following requirements prior to the start of employment:

  1. Medical doctorate (M.D. or equivalent).

  2. Eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois.

  3. Board certification in Pediatrics and/or board certification/eligibility in Pediatric Emergency Medicine.
