School of Culture and Creativity

The School of Culture and Creativity aims to offer a comprehensive, transformative and multidisciplinary approach to the studies of culture, media, design and creative industries. A range of programmes with a strong creative and practical focus will be offered by the School of Culture and Creativity, including the Bachelor of Communication (Honours) in Animation and Interactive Media, the Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons) in Culture, Creativity and Management, the Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Cinema and Television, the Bachelor of Communication (Hons) in Media Arts and Design, the Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Music Performance, Master of Arts in communication - Film TV & New Media Concentration, Master of Arts in communication - Interactive Media Studies Concentration.

Dean of School of Culture and Creativity (Ref: SCC190901)

The appointee should be a visionary leader and distinguished scholar, who is eligible for faculty appointment as a full professor, preferably in one or more of these fields: Media Arts and Design; Management in Arts and Cultural Industries; Cinema and Television; Comparative Cultural Studies; Art History; Musical Arts. She/he reports to the President/Vice-President (Academic) and is a key member of the Senior Management Team of the College, contributing to the advancement of UIC. S/he is required to provide leadership for:

(1) execution of all school initiatives and planning;

(2) facilitation of academic and administrative development by providing effective guidance in all aspects of the School’s academic programmes, research endeavors, and community outreach activities.


Job Requirement

The candidate should have a PhD degree with substantial managerial and leadership experience with broad vision and strategic foresight as well as a strong commitment to the promotion and implementation of liberal arts education. It is highly preferred that the candidate is familiar with the education system in both Mainland China and Hong Kong.


Faculty Positions in Media Arts and Design& Animation and Interactive Media


Job Description

Candidates with expertise in any of the following areas: Interactive Design, 3D Design, Graphic Design, Product Design, UI UX Design, 2-D and 3-D animation and interactive media that may include 2D and 3D digital arts, 2D and 3D animation, narrative media, history and theory of animation and interactive media, motion graphics, VR and AR art. Practice in the industry, sound design, and creative coding are considered as assets. Successful candidate should also be qualified to teach theoretical courses in arts and design. In addition to creative practice and academic research, the candidate will be responsible for supervising, facilitating field trips, tutoring and caring for students and academic promotion.


Job Requirement

Candidates should have a PhD degree or at least a Master’s degree of Design or Fine Arts (MFA) with extensive working experience in Higher Education and related discipline. Candidates are required to know the academic theories and practices of the related art and design discipline.

Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor/Senior Lecturer/Lecturer in Cinema and Television (Ref: SCC210415)


Job Description

Candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas: Sound Recording and Mixing, Film Production, Acting, and Theatre & Performance, etc. The candidate will be required to give tutorials to students, attend meetings, supervise final year projects and internship, and organize events.


Job Requirement

The candidate is required to have a PhD or at least a Master’s Degree in Fine Arts (MFA) with teaching experience in a related discipline, and is expected to teach at least two of the following courses:

  • Sound Recording and Mixing
  • Motion Imaging Color Grading
  • Principles of Photo Imaging
  • Video Cinematography
  • Film Editing
  • Fundamentals of Acting
  • History of Theatre and Performance
  • Classic Dramatic Literature
  • Aesthetics of Theatre and Performance
  • Performance Design: Set, Light, Sound
  • Performance Design: Costume and Props
  • Directing and Producing: Advance Theatre Making
  • Playwrighting and Dramaturgy
  • Post-dramatic Theatre and Digital Performance Making


Successful candidates are expected to be committed to excellence in undergraduate or postgraduate teaching. Preference will be given to candidates who have professional experience in entertainment or media, e.g. working in film and/or television and having professional credits and industry connections. The candidate should be cooperative, patient, and enthusiastic.


Benefits and Appointment Terms

Appointment to this position will initially be made on a fixed-term contract of two years. Commencing salaries will be commensurate with qualifications and relevant experience. Fringe benefits include housing allowance, leave and social insurance. Continuation of appointment beyond the initial term will be subject to mutual agreement.
