Vanderbilt University invites applications from established teacher-scholars to be the inaugural Director of a new Center for Languages and Global Engagement effective fall 2022. This full-time, non-tenure-track position is authorized as an open rank Professor of the Practice level. Responsibilities include (1) developing and managing the Center as a hub for language-related events, activities, and services, (2) overseeing the integration of language education in the residential college system, (3) coordinating language-related outreach within the Vanderbilt community and beyond, and (4) shaping related initiatives in Global Engagement for Vanderbilt. The teaching load for this position will be reduced in recognition of the administrative responsibilities. The successful applicant will be required to teach at least one course in their field each semester.

We seek applicants with proven leadership abilities and experience in language teaching, program development, and administration. A Ph.D. in Second Language Studies, modern languages or literatures, or related fields is required, received no later than August 15, 2022.  Experience with a wide range of languages and language learning technology is preferred.
