The research group Production and Supply Chain Management invites applications for a

Doctoral Research and Teaching Assistant Position

The research group focuses on the development of analytics approaches for production and supply chain planning. We have large experience in different industries (especially food, automotive, pharmaceuticals, fast-moving consumer goods, and electronics). The group is part of the Department of Operations and Technology with 7 professors and about 50 PhD students and Postdocs. TUM School of Management is ranked among the top 6 EU Business Schools in the 2022 Times Higher Education World University Rankings. Your tasks and opportunities

  • Participating in TUM School of Management’s PhD program to obtain a Doctoral degree.
  • Actively conducting research, participating in seminars, and publishing in leading international journals. The group supports joint research with international scholars and with industry.
  • Teaching in courses at undergraduate or graduate level as well as advising students who work on their thesis projects.

Your profile

  • Outstanding Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Computer Science, Mathematics, Business Administration (Operations and SCM focus), or Economics (micro focus).
  • Good knowledge and skills in programming languages (e.g., Julia, Python, C++, or Java) and preferably in optimization software (e.g., OPL / CPLEX).
  • Fluent English skills (proof of proficiency appreciated) and willingness to learn German.

What we offer

  • 3-year position at German government salary (TV-L 13, 75%, ≥ 3,000 Euro per month before taxes).

  • Attending international conferences and workshops (funded travel), as well as opportunities for international research, stay abroad.
  • Working in the heart of Munich, chair-internal and department-wide events etc.
