Are you enthusiastic about engaging young people in Higher Education? Are you passionate about your programme of study? Would you like to inspire young people and help prepare them for university by sharing your interests, knowledge and research skills?

The University of Leeds is one of the top 135 universities in the world.  We have a truly global community, with more than 39,000 students from 170 different countries and over 9,000 staff of 100 different nationalities.  Established in 1904, we have a strong tradition of academic excellence, reflected in first-class student education, along with world-leading research that has a real impact around the globe.

As part of the University’s Educational Engagement department, the Social Sciences Outreach Team works with young learners aged 11-19 on inspirational, fun and interactive activities to raise awareness of, and aspirations towards, higher education. As an Education Outreach Fellow (EOF), you will work as part of a highly motivated, professional team supporting our school liaison work with young people and their teachers by delivering a range of progression and enhancement activities both on and off campus and online.

In this role, you will specialise in developing, organising and delivering workshops related to your academic area. Currently we are recruiting Social Sciences Education Outreach Fellows from the following academic schools:

  • Leeds University Business School (including Economics) (3 vacancies)
  • Schools of Geography, Environment, and School of Food Science & Nutrition (6 vacancies across schools)
  • School of Law (1 vacancy)
  • School of Politics and International Studies (1 vacancy)

Please note that shortlisting decisions may be informed by the amount of interest in a particular subject area to ensure that we fill all available vacancies.

You will be required to act as a positive ambassador for the University and higher education. You will work with young people from a range or backgrounds in varying audience sizes so you should possess strong communication and presentation skills.

Work in this post is available throughout the academic year. Hours are designed to be flexible around your studies. The number of hours you work is dependent on your existing academic commitments and the activity requests we receive from schools and colleges.
