Faculty Position in Counseling

With support from the university administration, the Department of Educational Psychology at the University of Texas at Austin is pleased to invite applications for the following full-time, non-tenure-track position in our Master’s Program in Counseling with a starting date of August 2022.

We are seeking a highly organized person who will help manage several key aspects of this program. These include oversight of practicum placement and supervision as well as aligning the program with state and national accrediting requirements. Currently, the program has specializations in school counseling and higher education counseling. Priority will be given to applicants with expertise in school counseling and supervising school counseling students. Successful applicants will also demonstrate a commitment to working with diverse communities, culturally responsive counseling practices, and social justice, as well as have experience and/or interest in advising and curriculum
development. Applicants should also have a strong commitment to teaching and mentoring with a focus on enhancing equity and inclusion in the field and in practice.

The Counseling Program is located within the Department of Educational Psychology, currently ranked #8 according to the US News and Report. This program prepares students to serve as culturally competent, caring, and ethically responsible counselors to work in a variety of roles within academic settings, including schools (K-12) and postsecondary educational institutions (community colleges, colleges, and universities). Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate for this position will: (1) have a doctorate in counseling or a related field; (2) be licensed, license eligible, and/or certified in related fields (counseling, psychology, or school counseling); (3) have experience in
teaching or supervision in academic settings (K-12, college readiness, higher education); (4) be able to ensure that the school counseling program is in alignment with the Texas Education Agency (TEA). Experience or capacity to
teach and mentor undergraduate and graduate students from diverse backgrounds and advance the College’s mission of equity and excellence.

This is a full-time non-tenure track position. The salary for the position is commensurate with experience and background.
