As an exceptional academic, you will be able to demonstrate how your work will play a key role in the development of world-leading research programmes in a major area of research of relevance to the Institute.
You will be expected to provide direction for, and input to, the Institute and Faculty’s successful and expanding undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programmes. In line with all academic roles you will be expected to fulfil a range of important academic management, organisational and administrative responsibilities.

You will provide strategic vision, direction and leadership to the Institute and will ensure that appropriate plans, management and governance structures and practices are in place. You will also ensure the operational sustainability of the Institute through income generation and resource management as well as formulate and implement academic strategy and plans in conjunction with the Dean and Faculty management team. You will therefore be able to demonstrate:
You will have a higher degree in a relevant research area (MD, PhD or equivalent). An international reputation in your field of research, coupling with the ability to work collaboratively with members of a multi-disciplinary team and senior colleagues across Imperial College are also essential to succeed in this role.

Salary: Minimum salary for Professor (non-clinical) - £84,491 per annum; Salary for Professor (clinical): £88,364 - £119,133 per annum plus London Weighting of £2,162 per annum

If you are a clinician, you will be offered an honorary consultant contract with Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. As a clinician, you will have the appropriate UK clinical specialist registration, or will be eligible for registration within six months of interview, and will fulfil the requisite clinical checks.
The role of Head of the NHLI will initially, be for five years, in line with the College’s term of office for senior roles. For the Chair, the appointment will be made on an open-ended basis, either at clinical or non-clinical level, depending on qualifications and experience.
